The Govt. of Tamil Nadu's Telemedicine Project on TCS Telemedicine Platform on webhealthcentre.com was formally launched at a function at Madurai on 28 December 2003 by the Honble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Tamil Nadu Thiru. N.Thalavai Sundaram in the presence of the District Collector, Madurai Dist. Dr.Chandramohan and eleven MLAs and MPs of the area. The low cost Telemedicine link connects Primary Health Centres in Madurai and Theni Districts to the Government Rajaji Hospital (Madurai)

In the first Phase 14 Centres have been connected and the staff and doctors have been trained to use the system.

The function was held at the Govt. Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. Mr.K.Jayaramakrishnan,Vice-President, spoke on behalf of TCS and explained the Telemedicine system we have provided. The Minister in his speech thanked TCS for providing the system and requested TCS/webhealthcentre's continued support in rolling out the system to the other Districts of the State. The Dean of the Hospital and Senior Professors including the Jt.Directors of Medical Services and RCH Project participated.
